Police lay charges – Domestic violence in Darwin 25 August

Northern Territory Police have charged a 22-year-old man with multiple domestic violence offences committed over a 4 month period.

Detectives from the Domestic and Family Violence Unit (DFVU) will allege the man was involved in multiple assaults of a woman who was known to him.

The man has since been residing in Geelong, Victoria, with NT Police working closely with Victorian Police throughout investigations.

He was arrested in Melbourne on Monday 21 August 2023 and has since appeared in Darwin Local Court where he was bailed to appear on 4 October 2023.

Detective Senior Sergeant Justin Bentley said “Interstate borders will not and do not stop the Northern Territory Police from locating you and bringing you to justice.

“Domestic and Family Violence is an absolute scourge to our community and a frequent catalyst to other societal issues. We will do all it takes to hold offenders to account.
