Police lay drug trafficking charges at weapons seized at Gold Coast

Police have charged seven offenders with multiple drug and weapon offences after executing multiple search warrants across the Gold Coast last week.

Detectives seized a quantity of drugs including cocaine, ketamine, cannabis, MDMA, LSD and GBL, along with a rifle, handgun, taser and knuckledusters from residences in Upper Coomera, Pimpama, Ormeau Hills and Tugun on January 7. A small amount of cash was also seized.

Acting Detective Inspector Michael Corby said the charges are timely reminder that police continue to target those people engaged in the supply and distribution of drugs on the Gold Coast.

“Even as the social uncertainty around Covid-19 remains, police remain committed to detecting, investigating and ultimately pursuing those people engaged in alleged criminal behaviour.”

An 18-year-old Upper Coomera man was charged with four counts of supplying dangerous drugs, three counts of unlawful possession of weapon and two counts of trafficking dangerous drugs. He is next due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on February 4.

An 18-year-old Pimpama man was charged with one count each of trafficking dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs, possess property suspected of being used in connection of a drug offence, unlawful possession of weapon. He is next due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on February 4.

A 20-year-old Ormeau Hills man was charged with four counts of supplying dangerous drugs, and one count each of trafficking dangerous drugs and possess item used in the commission of a crime. He is next due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on January 12.

A 21-year-old Ormeau Hills woman was charged with three counts of supplying dangerous drugs. She is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on January 21.

A 25-year-old Tugun man was charged with five counts of possessing dangerous drugs, two counts of supplying dangerous drugs and one count each of trafficking dangerous drugs, possess relevant substances, possess property suspected of having been used in a drug offence, obstruct police and contravene order about information needed to access information stored electronically. He is next due to appear in Court on February 11.

A 23-year-old Tugun man was charged with five counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count each of supply dangerous drugs, possessing relevant substances and possess property suspected of having been used in a drug offence. He is due to appear in Court on January 22.

A 45-year-old Tugun man was charged with one count of possessing dangerous drugs and issue a Notice to Appear in in Southport Magistrates Court on January 28.
