Police Responding To Fatal Traffic Crash At Townsville 17 March

An 83-year-old man has died following a fatal crash that occurred near Richmond on Friday, March 15.

Initial investigations indicate around 2pm, a car and water truck collided along Flinders Highway about 14 kilometres west of Richmond.

The driver of the car, an 83-year-old Gulliver man, sustained life threatening injuries and was airlifted to Townsville University Hospital.

He succumbed to his injuries on March 17.

The driver of the water truck, a 63-year-old Richmond man, was not injured and is assisting police.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
