Police responding to traffic crash at Southport

Police have commenced an investigation into a traffic crash at Southport early this morning.

Around 4.30am, a Honda Civic was travelling along Gibbs Lane when it clipped a tree, crashed through a fence and fell into a Meron Street carpark seven metres below.

The driver, a 38-year-old Southport man, was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital for further testing and treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

A 37-year-old Carara man, who was also in the car, was not physically injured.

Investigations continue.
