Police seek information after man assaulted in Granville

Police are appealing for public assistance after a man was assaulted by a group of men in Sydney’s north-west overnight.

About 11.40 pm (Wednesday 27 January 2021), officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command were called a house in Victoria Street, Granville following reports a man had been assaulted.

Police have been told the 36-year-old man was sitting out the front of his house when he was approach by up to five men, all wearing masks and armed with bats and sticks.

The men began to attack the 36-year-old and he retreated inside. The men followed him into the house and the assault continued. Thy were last seen running west on Victoria Street.

Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command were contacted, and a crime scene was established.

The man was treated at the scene for a laceration to the head and taken to Westmead Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
