A pop-up exhibition featuring a collection of paintings by Alicia Hart, one of eight artists who completed the 2019 Artists in the Park (AiP) residency program, officially opens today at the Territory Wildlife Park.

As part of the AiP program, Alicia was provided exclusive access to the Park’s fascinating collection of flora and fauna which she used as inspiration for her work. The collection of paintings produced over her 12-month residency features animals such as the Black Flying Fox, Saltwater Crocodile, Australian Pelican, Sugar Glider and more.

The pop-up exhibition opens 18 December at 12pm and runs until 31 January 2020. Visitors are invited to attend the unveiling of the exhibition and will have the opportunity to meet the artist. All works will be available for sale.

As noted by Territory Wildlife Park, General Manager Visitor Services, Jasmine Jan

“We encourage visitors and locals to visit the Territory Wildlife Park over the summer holidays to enjoy Alicia’s stunning depictions of our famous Park residents.

“The Artists in the Park program is a great opportunity for artists to immerse themselves in our natural world, develop their portfolio and showcase their work.

“There was a really strong field of artists working in diverse art forms and mediums that applied for the 2020 Artists in the Park program so we’re excited to see what our 2020 artists will produce.”

As noted by Alicia Hart:

“I love painting pieces inspired by the Territory and the Artists in the Park residency program provided plenty of inspiration, allowing me to capture the natural beauty of the Park’s animals.

“Through my art I hope to bring more people to the Park to experience the beauty for themselves.”
