Telstra plans to upgrade a telecommunications facility at
Canberra Drive, Avalon Airfield, Avalon, 3212.
This is an upgrade to an existing mobile phone tower infrastructure on private land. Under the Telecommunications Act, the City cannot interfere with such upgrades unless the project impacts on our infrastructure. Upgrades to mobile infrastructure are managed by the operator.
The proposal consists of the removal of
three (3) antennas, the installation of three (3) new
antennas, the installation of nine (9) Radio Units
(RRUs), a 4.5m extension of the monopole and
the installation of ancillary equipment.
Telstra regards the proposed installation as a
Low-impact Facility under the Telecommunications
(Low-impact Facilities) Determination 2018
(“The Determination”) based on the description above.
