Police have made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) due to a large fire at Townsville.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of Blackwood Street and Flinders Street around 6:15am following reports of a large fire.
A PSPA was declared at 8:40am, with the exclusion zone encompassing multiple streets in Townsville, including Jones Street, Sturt Street, Blackwood Street, Walker Street, Stanley Street, Hanran Street, Flinders Street and Jones Street.
Members of the public, including motorists, are advised to avoid the area and those within the exclusion zone are asked to remain indoors and close their windows until further notice.
