Pump it up at new Gracemere Track

Grab your scooter, skateboard or BMX bike and head on down to Cedric Archer Park to test out the brand new, high quality Pump Track thanks to funding from the Palaszczuk Government’s Works for Queensland program, which officially opened this morning.

The latest upgrade to Gracemere’s much loved Cedric Archer Park has finished ahead of schedule, which is great news for keen bikers in the region who can start spinning their wheels ASAP!

The 550 metre asphalt track is one of Queensland’s largest pump tracks and is designed to encourage progression and confidence for all riders, no matter their level of experience.

Rockhampton Region Mayor Margaret Strelow said the new track cost $767,410 to construct, with $500,000 being met by the Works for Queensland allocation.

“It’s projects like this that prove just how beneficial funding from the Works for Queensland program is to our community,” Mayor Strelow said.

“We would have never embarked on a project like this alone.

“The Pump Track is a welcome addition to Cedric Archer Park, which has grown into a destination for tourists and residents alike thanks to the Works for Queensland program which also funded the much loved wet play area that opened in 2017.”

Divisional Councillor Ellen Smith said this project is not only a major improvement for Gracemere, but for the entire region.

“Having a facility like the pump track in our region will be yet another drawcard for families to live in and visit our wonderful region.

“The beauty of the pump track is that anyone – no matter their age or ability – can enjoy hours of fun at the exciting new addition to Cedric Archer Park.”
