Economic recovery projects are high on the agenda in Queensland, as 27 more recoveries since Friday and no new cases today reduces the number of active COVID-19 cases to below 20 for the first time since early March.
There are now 18 active cases, 1021 recovered and six deaths for a total of 1045.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk again thanked Queenslanders for the terrific health effort.
“We are all working together and we are going to get through this,” Ms Palaszczuk said.
“As well as the health response, we are focused on getting people back into work, growing jobs, and regional development – projects we can bring forward throughout Queensland.
“The Federal Government is eager to look at what projects we have in Queensland. We have key congestion-busting road infrastructure that is ready to go.”
Road projects include: Bruce Highway safety upgrades between Mackay and Proserpine, sealing the Peninsula Development Road on Cape York, upgrading the Three Moon Creek Bridge on the Burnett Highway, and the Philip Street duplication in Gladstone.
The Bruce Highway from Caboolture to the Steve Irwin Way is also included.
Also:
- An additional $500 million in funding has been secured for interest free loans for COVID19-affected businesses, doubling the initial commitment.
The additional funding will continue to be administered through the Queensland Rural and Industry Development Authority, provided through the Queensland Investment Corporation.
That will support thousands of Queensland businesses and tens of thousands of jobs.
