The Queensland Police Service (QPS) has issued an urgent product recall of a batch of ballistic armour plates installed in the body armour used by officers.
The action is being taken after proactive testing was initiated by the QPS which identified a fault with a small number of plates from a recently purchased batch.
Earlier batches purchased by the QPS are not affected by this issue.
There are 1,573 of the potentially affected plates that are being recalled today.
Despite this recall, the QPS has a sufficient number of plates available to ensure ongoing officer safety.
A process is in place to replenish supplies in the longer term.
This recall is not related to the Integrated Load Bearing Vests being trialled around the state.
