The Multicultural Queensland Ambassador Program is going from strength to strength, with 20 new organisations joining up in support of the Palaszczuk Government’s vision for a harmonious, united and inclusive Queensland.
Multicultural Affairs Minister Stirling Hinchliffe said the high-profile organisations were uniquely placed to promote diversity and inclusion, from the grassroots right through to executive level.
“Multicultural Queensland Ambassadors have unique power, reach and influence to spread the message that Queensland’s diversity is one of our greatest strengths,” he said.
“They can help to break down barriers that may prevent people from diverse backgrounds from fully participating in the social and economic life of Queensland.
“The focus of the program for this year is to lead by example, encourage and increase cultural understanding in major organisations.
“It’s about providing more opportunities for employment and training, promoting stories of diversity and inclusion in workplaces and building a platform to publicly denounce racism and exclusion in all its forms.
“The Multicultural Ambassador Program brings enormous social and economic benefits to our State, and that is why these Ambassador organisations are embracing diversity and leading the way through their business practices.”
The new organisations joining the program as Multicultural Queensland Ambassadors are:

- Netball Queensland
- Tennis Queensland
- Queensland Cricket
- Brisbane Broncos
- Brisbane Bullets
- National Rugby League
- Gold Coast SUNS
- Queensland Reds
- North Queensland Cowboys
- Australia Post
- RACQ
- Virgin Airlines
- Central Queensland University
- Woolworths
- NAB
- BDO
Welcoming Australia, The Migrant Centre Organisation, and the Multicultural Communities Gold Coast Council have also joined the Program as Cultural Advisor organisations.
These elite sporting teams and businesses are joining a network of 80 corporations, organisations and institutions already on the program.
Mr Hinchliffe said he is looking forward to working with the sporting and corporate organisations to help showcase their commitment to the Multicultural Charter and the benefits it brings to their own organisation and to the wider community.
