The Public Health and Social Measure linked to vaccination Direction was revoked at 1am on 14 April 2022, ending the requirement to check-in and to be fully vaccinated at a number of Council venues.

Rockhampton Region Mayor Tony Williams said if you are planning a visit to the Rockhampton Zoo, Pilbeam Theatre, Rockhampton Heritage Village, the Showgrounds, or the Rockhampton Museum of Art, you will no longer need to show your vaccination status.

“The revoking of the direction is great news for our community and for businesses across our Region, especially given the influx of visitors for this weekend’s Rockynats event,” Mayor Williams said.

“Festival goers will not need proof of vaccination for the event, or to enter our pubs, clubs, cafes, and restaurants.

“I really want to thank the community for doing their part these past few months, since the changes came into effect back in December.

“This welcome news is thanks to commitment of all Queenslanders in getting vaccinated and following the Queensland government direction.

“Like many businesses and organisations in Queensland, Council was legally required to follow these directions and the rules applied to both staff and visitors alike.

“It is important to note that vaccination and check-in requirements will continue for workers, including contractors, at a number of Council facilities such as Rockhampton City Childcare Centre and CQ Home Assist.”
