I am pleased to announce that BreastScreen Tasmania is now resuming breast screening services at their Hobart and Launceston clinics from Monday, as well as at the mobile clinic currently in Exeter.
The mobile service in Devonport is scheduled to resume from Monday 25 May.
BreastScreen Tasmania services were temporarily suspended in late March to protect the safety of both staff and patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. This was based on the advice of the experts, such as the national Breast Screening Advisory Committee.
BreastScreen Tasmania is in the process of contacting women whose appointments were postponed to reschedule their appointments, and screening reminders for women who are due or overdue for their screening have already commenced.
Women who receive their BreastScreen reminder are encouraged to call 13 20 50 to confirm their appointment.
I want to acknowledge all of the women who have been affected by these service disruptions and thank them for their understanding.
I would also like to thank the BreastScreen Tasmania staff for their patience during this time.
BreastScreen Tasmania delivers more than 30,000 screening appointments for Tasmanian women every year. They provide an incredible service for Tasmanian women and save lives.
