The ReUse Goulburn Recycling Centre was officially opened on May 27, 2024.

The project, aimed at modernising the Goulburn Waste Management Centre (GWMC), introduces new facilities and a resource resale shop to enhance waste segregation for improved recycling and reuse. The Centre will address problematic household waste disposal while the education centre focuses on community engagement for sustainable waste management practices.

Goulburn Mulwaree Council Mayor Peter Walker expressed, “The ReUse Goulburn project signifies a significant step towards a circular economy, aligning with NSW waste targets and reducing landfill waste. This initiative not only streamlines waste management but also creates job opportunities, promoting environmental sustainability and economic growth.”

The project’s emphasis on recycling and community involvement underscores its commitment to reducing emissions and fostering innovation in waste management.

“Our government’s support for projects like the ReUse Goulburn centre helps to make sure that all Australians can do their part to reduce our environmental impact and contribute towards a circular economy,” said Labor Senator for New South Wales Deborah O’Neill. “I’m sure it will be a big encouragement for local schools, businesses and residents to do their part and reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill.”

This project was funded by the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program ($1,042,650), Community Recycling Centre Program NSW Environmental Trust – NSW Government, and Goulburn Mulwaree Council.
