Rex Stubbs History Symposium

Dr-Rex-Stubbs-OAM - webHawkesbury Library Service is proud to host the annual Rex Stubbs History Symposium on Saturday, 17 February 2024 from 9:15am to 2:30pm at Hawkesbury Central Library, Ground Floor, Deerubbin Centre, 300 George Street, Windsor.

The Keynote Speaker will be Stephen Gapps, public historian, and author with research interests in Frontier histories. His presentation will focus on conflict in the early NSW colony, 1788-1817. Participants will also discover how to care for historic collections and material with conservator Teagan Anthes. Free event with refreshments included.

The symposium will include:

  • A presentation on conservation and preservation
  • Project updates from Hawkesbury City Council’s Arts and Culture team
  • Updates from historical societies and groups
  • Networking opportunities.

The Rex Stubbs Symposium is named in commemoration of Emeritus Mayor, Dr Rex Stubbs OAM, who was first elected to Hawkesbury City Council in 1983. He held office for nearly 27 years.

The free event recognises Dr Stubbs’ commitment to the Hawkesbury community and aims to promote interest in the unique history of the area.
