Right To Information shows Rockliff was aware of Archer bullying allegations prior to December 2022 03 October 2023

An RTI received by Tasmanian Labor shows that the Premier was aware of bullying allegations against Elise Archer sometime prior to December 2022.

The RTI reveals that the Premier’s office received correspondence regarding alleged bullying in Elise Archer’s office prior to December 2022, when the RTI was dated.

The Premier sat on this and didn’t act on it until it became public.

Last year the Premier pledged a “zero tolerance” approach to bullying after the release of Anti-Discrimination Commissioner Sarah Bolt’s Motion for Respect report.

Clearly these were hollow words.

Given the seriousness of these allegations, Jeremy Rockliff should have acted straight away to ensure the safety of staff in the Attorney General’s office.

It’s a dreadful failure of leadership and provides an insight into why the Premier and his government are in the mess they’re in.
