Roberto Bria appointed CEO at City of Holdfast Bay

Roberto Bria has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer at the City of Holdfast Bay.

The appointment was formally endorsed by the City of Holdfast Bay Council last night (Tuesday 9 July) following a thorough recruitment process.

City of Holdfast Bay Mayor, Amanda Wilson, said Roberto’s appointment brings significant experience, knowledge and stability to the most senior executive position within the council.

“During his time as acting CEO Roberto has demonstrated his exceptional capabilities as a leader and someone who cares passionately about our community,” Mayor Wilson said.

“We had a number of high-quality candidates but Roberto’s experience in the public and private sectors, his financial expertise and professional approach make him an ideal fit for the role.

“The City of Holdfast Bay is home to a thriving, connected community and we have a number of key infrastructure projects underway, such as the Brighton Oval redevelopment and the Minda Coast Path.

“I’m confident that Roberto’s leadership will be a real asset to us as we deliver on these projects and capitalise on the opportunities outlined within the Council’s strategic plan.

“He also has a strong knowledge and understanding of the Council, its Elected Members and the executive team and this, coupled with his drive and enthusiasm, will ensure the council continues to be a leader among local government.”

Roberto has been the acting CEO at Holdfast Bay since March 2019 following the resignation of Justin Lynch, and prior to that was General Manager, Business Services for two years.

Roberto Bria, who has agreed a five-year contract beginning on the 10 July, said he was privileged to have been awarded the opportunity to lead the council.

“The City of Holdfast Bay has a very good history of achievement and community satisfaction,” Roberto Bria said.

“My goal is to ensure that we maintain the high standards and quality of life that our residents have traditionally enjoyed, and to be focused on delivering on the needs of the local community.”

Roberto has held senior executive positions across private enterprise and the public sector, including for Local, State and Federal government, and the not-for-profit sector.
