Roger running from responsibility

  • Minister in hiding
  • Serious questions unanswered
  • Jaensch must resign
  • With multiple fires burning across his portfolios, embattled Minister Roger Jaensch has gone to ground.

Roger Jaensch lied to the Parliament a week ago and he has run from the media cameras once and has been in hiding ever since.

That’s despite serious concerns emerging this week about his Department’s ongoing practice of sending at-risk Tasmanians to the controversial Brahminy program in the Northern Territory.

Shadow Minister for Child Safety and Youth, Josh Willie, said Roger Jaensch’s position is untenable.

“Roger Jaensch is focussed on saving his job when he should be focussed on looking after the best interests of children,” Mr Willie said.

“It was bad enough that Mr Jaensch lied to Parliament about his decision to make it easier to evict struggling Tasmanians from their homes. But now he has shown that he is completely incapable of performing his core functions as a Minister.

“Roger Jaensch can’t hide forever. He needs to face the reality that he is not fit to be a Minister. If he won’t resign the Premier must sack him.”
