The Marshall Government has welcomed the latest ANZ/Property Council Survey, which shows South Australia was the only jurisdiction to enjoy a rise in business confidence.
The survey of property sector professionals – including developers, landlords, architects, planners, and engineers – shows confidence in South Australia has improved for the September 2021 quarter, and is much higher than the state’s historic average.
Confidence in the Marshall Government to manage and plan for future growth surged this quarter, up by a massive 342 per cent, which was 720 per cent above the historic average for the state.
Treasurer Rob Lucas welcomed the survey as another positive sign of SA’s ongoing economic recovery from the global COVID-19 pandemic, and a huge vote of confidence in the Marshall Government’s plan for keeping our state safe and our economy strong.
“This survey comes on the back of recent strong payroll jobs data from the ABS, which saw SA jobs up 15.6 per cent from the low point of the pandemic,” Mr Lucas said.
“While there is much more work to be done, it’s pleasing to see this rising confidence among SA’s business community in the most liveable city in the nation.
“The recent defence announcements which saw SA cement itself as the shipbuilding capital will deliver jobs for decades to come, which will only further bolster this confidence in the business community and the broader South Australian community.
“The Marshall Government continues to stand shoulder to shoulder with South Australian businesses as we deliver targeted economic support – through the Business Support Package – as part of our strong COVID economic recovery plan.”
