Department of Health

Territorians studying to become Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioners are invited to apply for this year’s annual Aboriginal Health Practitioner (AHP) Scholarship Scheme.

Four scholarships, worth up to $5000 over two years, are now on offer for people aiming for the HLT40213 Certificate IV in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (Practice).

The scholarship offer closes on 9 March 2020.

Applicants must be Northern Territory residents who are either full-time students currently studying, or enrolled to study, the HLT40213 Certificate IV in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (Practice).

Applicants must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.

The scholarship scheme began in 2015 and aims to build the capacity of the Aboriginal Health Practitioner workforce.

Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioners play a key role in delivering comprehensive and culturally safe primary health care.

The Certificate IV in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (Practice) is an important qualification which provides rural and remote Aboriginal people a career in health.

The Department of Health is committed to building the capacity of the Aboriginal Health Practitioner profession and workforce; and these scholarships are an important element of that commitment.
