A sixth person has been charged and will appear in court today over his alleged involvement in a car rebirthing syndicate.
In August 2018, detectives from the Financial Crimes Squad’s Motor Unit established Strike Force Emelle to investigate the coordinated theft, rebirthing and on-sale of stolen motor vehicles and vessels across Sydney.
Last month, detectives charged a 20-year-old woman and four men – aged 20, 30, 32 and 64. They remain before the courts.
Following further investigations, strike force detectives executed two search warrants at a business in Kingsgrove, and a home at Macquarie Links about 10.20am on Thursday 7 November 2019.
During the search, officers seized mobile phones, a computer, documents and prescription medication.
A 57-year-old Macquarie Links man was arrested and taken to Campbelltown Police Station, where he was charged with knowingly facilitate organised car rebirthing.
Police will allege in court that the man supplied a number of fraudulent build and compliance labels to another man for the purpose of car rebirthing.
He was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court today (Monday 25 November 2019).
Investigations under Strike Force Emelle are continuing.
