COVID Cases in SA
There have been 3,482 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 23,279 active cases in South Australia.
Sadly, since the last report, SA Health has been notified that 14 people who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away. The deaths notified are from data reconciliation and occurred between 21 March 2022 and 22 May 2022.
SA Health can confirm one woman in her 70s, one woman in her 80s, four women in their 90s, one man in his 30s, one man in his 60s, four men in their 70s, one man in his 80s and one man in his 90s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away.
There are 232 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including nine people in ICU. Of those hospitalised, 109 people have received three or more vaccine doses and 123 people are either unvaccinated, partially vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status.
Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

Variants
The latest genome sampling from 1 to 15 May has found 99% of samples taken were BA.2.

COVID testing
Yesterday, 8,791 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 14.3% increase on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 1,619 PCR tests were positive, while 1,863 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.
Vaccination update
Currently 95.7% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 93.8% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 72.5% of eligible South Australians and 67% of South Australians aged 16+.
