Speeding driver reported in Far North

A woman will face court after she was detected speeding at 163km/h in the State’s Far North yesterday with three unrestrained toddlers in the back of the car.

Just after 7pm on Wednesday 27 January, police were mobile radar duties on the Olympic Highway between Roxby Downs and Woomera, when they detected a Toyota sedan travelling north at 163km/h in the 110km/h zone.

When police stopped and spoke to the 23-year-old woman driving, they discovered three small children aged 2 (twins) and 3-years-old, all in the rear of the vehicle, not seated in child seats and not restrained by seat belts in any way.

The Enfield woman was reported for exceeding the speed limit, driving at a speed dangerous to the public and others, and three counts of having unrestrained children in the vehicle.

The woman will be summonsed to appear in court at a date to be set. The woman’s car was not impounded due to the remote location of the incident.
