Sydney City Police have arrested a man who was located in possession of a dog that had been stolen from the Upper North Shore last week.
On Monday 20 January 2020, officers from Kuring Gai Police Area Command received a report that ‘Oska’, a grey and white American Staffordshire Terrier, had been stolen by unknown men at Waitara.
Police were told Oska had escaped his yard and a neighbour saw him on the street near his home about 10.30am, when two men approached and tied a string around his neck before leading him from the location.
The men were seen with Oska later in the day near Hornsby Railway Station but there had not been any further confirmed sightings.
After information was circulated to police across Sydney, officers from Sydney City Police Area Command spotted Oska with a man on Market Street in Sydney CBD about 12.30pm today (Friday 31 January 2020).
The 36-year-old man was arrested and taken to Day Street Police Station, where he was charged with steal dog.
He has been refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court tomorrow (Saturday 1 February 2020).
Oska also went to Day Street Police Station, but he was given water, treats and playtime.
His mum attended the station and gave him lots of hugs and kisses before taking him home.
