Support For Margaret River Pro Extended Until 2028

The Cook Government has secured the future of the Western Australian Margaret River Pro until 2028 under a new multi-year sponsorship agreement with the World Surf League (WSL).

As a WSL Championship Tour event, the Pro attracts surfing’s global elite, with the world’s best men and women surfers competing for championship points.

The Western Australian Margaret River Pro has been held in Margaret River in various forms since 1985 and proudly supported by the WA Government for 25 years, since 1999.

The 2024 event marks the tenth year of Western Australia hosting a round of the prestigious World Championship Tour.

The surf competition is a proven visitor drawcard for the area, with the 2023 event attracting more than 3,500 visitors to the Margaret River region, injecting more than $8 million into the South West economy.

The event also showcases the Margaret River region to audiences around the world through its global media coverage and online broadcast, as well as through the social media profiles of celebrity surfers, including Kelly Slater, John John Florence, Caroline Marks, Tyler Wright, Jack Robinson and Gabriel Medina.
