His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, will conduct the swearing-in ceremony of Professor Hugh Heggie PSM as the 23rd Administrator of the Northern Territory at Parliament House on Thursday, 2 February 2023, commencing at 9.30am. During the ceremony, the Affirmation of Allegiance and Affirmation of Office will be administered by the Governor-General.
Following the official swearing-in ceremony, His Honour Professor the Honourable Hugh Heggie PSM Administrator of the Northern Territory and Ms Ruth Jones, will be received at Government House for the first time as the Vice Regal couple with a Welcome from the Traditional Owners of the land on which Government House stands, the Larrakia people. They will then host a Courtesy Call with senior Larrakia representatives as their first official engagement.
The Governor-General will attend Government House later in the day to invest His Honour as a Knight of Grace in the most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem.
The Administrator will then host a luncheon at Government House in honour of Their Excellencies, The Governor-General and Mrs Linda Hurley.
