Graffiti Removal Day is taking place on Sunday 28 March 2021 – a timely reminder that we all have an important role to play in wiping out illegal graffiti in our community.
Graffiti is one of the most visible crimes and the impact to the community is wide-reaching. In addition to the obvious financial impacts associated with graffiti removal, indirect costs include environmental harm, increased concerns for personal safety and reduced community pride.
The Central Coast is a beautiful place to live, work and play and we need the support of local businesses and the community to keep it that way.
In the lead up to Graffiti Removal Day, Council is partnering with Toukley Lions Club and the Department of Juvenile Justice to paint over vandalism at Toukley Community Recreation Precinct. We look forward to sharing the results of this project with our community.
How can you get involved?
Residents can become part of the solution by volunteering to help remove graffiti as part of Graffiti Removal Day. Those interested in participating can visit the Graffiti Removal Day website to learn more and register as a volunteer. They will then receive information on approved graffiti removal sites across the Coast.
Removing graffiti as quickly as possible not only makes the process much easier, it reduces the likelihood that offenders will recommit. If you spot someone actively vandalising property of any kind, please call the Police Assistance Line on 131 444 to lodge a report.
We are working to make graffiti removal as easy as possible. Free graffiti removal kits to our community and can be picked up at all our libraries and our customer service centres. The kits provide the chemicals and equipment needed to remove graffiti from your own property or, with permission, the properties of friends and neighbours.
Central Coast Council is committed to working with key partners to help actively reduce and eliminate graffiti across the Coast, as outlined in our Graffiti Management Strategy 2021-2024. Council is responsible for the removal of graffiti on our facilities and we encourage community members to notify Council if they observe graffiti on any of our properties.
