The Hodgman majority Liberal Government continues to support emerging Tasmanian artists.
That is why we are proud to announce Launceston based artist Samantha Dennis as the recipient of the 2019 FIND Contemporary Jewellery Collective Bursary.
Now in its second year, the bursary is offered through a partnership between Arts Tasmania and FIND Contemporary Jewellery Collective and provides $1,000 to an emerging or mid-career contemporary jeweller.
Samantha is an exciting emerging Tasmanian artist, who was awarded the Contemporary Art Tasmania Prize in 2013 and the Small Sculpture Prize in 2016.
She intends to put the bursary towards the development and delivery of a new work for an exhibition of Tasmanian artists titled Un/Touched Wilderness at the Devonport Regional Gallery in April 2020.
Tasmania’s arts and cultural sector is a critical part of the State, injecting approximately $179 million into the Tasmanian economy a year and directly employing approximately 5,000 people. This Bursary is one of the many ways in which new and emerging artists are supported to be valuable contributors to the cultural and creative sector.
