Tasmanian Labor strongly supports Tasmania’s salmon industry 29 November 2023

Tas Labor

Tasmanian Labor strongly supports our salmon industry and has demonstrated our support on numerous occasions.

We stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the salmon industry as we advocate for Tasmania and Tasmanian jobs including elevating it to the attention of not only the Federal Minister but also the Prime Minister.

It’s a vital industry for our state and Tasmanian Labor is working closely with industry to support jobs in the sector.

There was a Salmon Tasmania and Devonport Chamber of Commerce and Industry breakfast this morning that the Labor party was well represented at, including Tasmanian Labor leader Rebecca White.

We have visited numerous salmon farms including those at Strahan this year to understand more about the industry and show our support.

Tasmanian Labor Senator Anne Urquart is doing important work in advocating for the industry and we commit to continuing to work with her to support these vital regional jobs.

It’s important we demonstrate support for the industry as political leaders and not resort to silly, unproductive, political name calling like some on the other side of politics have done.
