A teenager has been charged as inquiries continue into two alleged aggravated robberies in Sydney’s north west last month.
About 11.30pm on Wednesday (30 January 2019), a 20-year-old woman was sitting in the area of Centenary Square, Parramatta, before two girls, aged 17 and 15, approached her and requested to use her phone.
It’s alleged the woman refused and walked away, however, the girls followed her before grabbing the phone and running towards Parramatta railway station.
In a separate incident, about 9.20pm on Thursday 31 January 2019, two women were approached on Phillip Street at Parramatta by two girls, who requested to use the pair’s phones, however, the women indicated they did not speak English.
Police will allege the girls assaulted the women, punching one in the face multiple times, while attempting to take her handbag.
At the time, a vehicle driving past stopped, and the male driver and female passenger intervened, restraining the 17-year-old girl before notifying police.
Officers from Parramatta Police Area Command attended the scene and arrested the teenager.
She was taken to Parramatta Police Station where she was charged with robbery in company, assault with intent to rob in company, and affray.
As inquiries continue, police would like to speak with two elderly females only described as being of Asian appearance who may have been injured as a result of the incident.
