Teen dies in crash at Boggabilla

A teenager has died following a crash in the state’s New England region overnight.

About 1am (Sunday 18 June 2023), police conducting patrols in Boggabilla located a Ford Falcon that had crashed into a power pole.

The driver died at the scene. While he is yet to be formally identified, he’s believed to be a 17-year-old from Queensland.

The passenger, an 18-year-old man, was taken to Goondiwindi Hospital in Queensland where he was treated for minor injuries.

Officers from New England Police District established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

It’s believed the teens had driven from Queensland shortly prior to the crash.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

As investigations continue, police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident, or the events leading up to it, to come forward.
