Top 100 for University of Adelaide in 2022 US News Rankings of Best Global Universities

Among more than 10,000 universities, the University of Adelaide is ranked 66 in the world (up by seven places) in the 2022 US News rankings of the Best Global Universities – with four key disciplines also ranked within the world’s top 50.

The University of Adelaide is the leading university in the state of South Australia, and among only eight top 100 universities in Australia and New Zealand.

Consistent with other global rankings, the influential 2022 US News rankings have also listed many crucial subject areas in the global top 100:

  • Electrical and Electronic Engineering – 16 in the world
  • Engineering – 33
  • Computer Science – 35
  • Physical Chemistry – 48
  • Plant and Animal Science – 54
  • Nanoscience and Nanotechnology – 66
  • Chemistry – 68
  • Civil Engineering – 69
  • Physics – 73
  • Geosciences – 75
  • Agricultural Sciences – 95
  • Public, Environmental and Occupational Health – 96
  • Environment/Ecology – 99

“It is a major achievement for the University of Adelaide to be ranked 66 worldwide, and our community should feel justifiably proud of this result, which continues improvements in two other key global rankings for University of Adelaide this year,” says Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Peter Høj AC.

The US News overall and subject rankings account for global and regional research reputations, number and impacts of scholarly publications, volume and percentage of highly cited publications, scientific excellence indicators, and international collaborations.
