Tourism partnership to serve up five-star culinary content

  • New partnership between State Government through Tourism WA and the West Australian Good Food Guide
  • Online content to showcase WA’s quality food and wine experiences
  • High-profile culinary personalities to be featured
  • Restaurant reviews, images of mouth-watering meals and famous food and wine personalities will be served up as part of a new partnership to boost WA’s reputation as a top culinary tourism destination.

The partnership is between the State Government through Tourism WA and online publication the West Australian Good Food Guide.

The publication promotes the WA dining scene through editorial and video content, award programs and culinary events.

The arrangement means Tourism WA can use the guide’s content to showcase Western Australia’s food and wine experiences to tempt travellers Australia-wide to visit the State.

It also gives Tourism WA the opportunity to join forces with high-profile Australian culinary talent, such as chef and restauranteur Matt Moran, to create and share WA promotional content.

Moran recently visited WA and shared highlights from his trip with his social media followers including Albany’s fresh oysters, the clear waters of Rottnest Island and sophisticated dining establishments in Perth City.

Sustainable food chef Matt Stone, comedian and wine-critic Merrick Watts and food journalist Pat Nourse are among other culinary talent lined up to visit WA through the partnership to promote the State’s culinary tourism experiences.

As stated by Tourism Minister David Templeman:

“Enjoyable food and wine experiences rate highly on the wish-lists of travellers and can help create a positive reputation for tourism destinations and an unforgettable holiday experience.

“This new partnership will make sure Tourism WA serves up authentic and enticing content online, which is where people are increasingly making their travel and dining decisions.

“Many jobs in the tourism industry are in hospitality, so it’s vital that we innovate and secure partnerships like this one to make sure the sector stays strong.”
