The Territory Government is working towards improving road safety through empowering local community groups at the grass-roots level to deliver effective education and awareness programs and activities that will help keep people safe on our roads.
$20,000 of Toward Zero Quick Response Grants are available for organisations to bring their road safety ideas to fruition.
Educational programs, funded through these grants, will run from 16 to 23 May, during National Road Safety Week.
National Road Safety Week is an annual initiative from the Safer Australian Roads and Highways (SARAH) Group, collaborating with road safety organisations and Local, State, Territory, and Federal Governments across Australia.
National Road Safety Week forms part of the Territory Government’s Towards Zero Road Safety Action Plan, and aims to raise awareness that road safety is everyone’s responsibility.
The quick response grants will provide eligible groups and organisations up to $1000 for initiatives that promote improving safer behaviour and culture on our roads.
This year, we are encouraging all schools, community groups, sporting clubs, not-for-profits organisations, and local governments to get involved and champion their own initiative this National Road Safety Week.
Recently, the Territory Government invested close to $90,000 towards 18 organisations towards 2020-2021 Road Safety Grants.
Towards Zero Quick Response Grants of between $500 and $1,000 are available until 31 May 2021 for organisation that have an activity that encourages and engages the community in responsible road user behaviours and cultures.
