A new, public training and webinar series has been launched by the Australian Alliance to End Homelessness (AAEH) to help communities across the country end homelessness.
The webinar series is a first of its kind in Australia and aims to inform and equip individuals, communities and organisations with the tools necessary to end homelessness across the country.
The webinars will explore methods that are working internationally, such as the Housing First Model and Advance to Zero Homelessness Methodology, and how these can be applied and implemented in a local context.
David Pearson CEO of the AAEH said that ending homelessness is possible and that this training series is designed to support organisations, individuals and communities to implement models that have proved successful.
“This training series will help communities across Australia use these methodologies – proving successful in Europe and North America – in their efforts to end homelessness for good. They are particularly useful for those who might already be part of a collaborative but are keen to get a more holistic understanding of how these approaches work,” said Mr Pearson.
“We’ve secured a number of international presenters as well to discuss how these methodologies have worked in their countries and local communities. One of which is the President and CEO of OrgCode Consulting, the organisation who created the VI-SPDAT.
The VI-SPDAT is a prescreen instrument designed to help organisations and communities interested in ending homelessness to identify homeless adults, youth and families that have increased vulnerability and risks to future housing stability. This webinar will look at how we can utilise this tool in Australia.”
