The Queensland Police Service (QPS) is aware of a brief Telstra platform issue which occurred yesterday between 6.20pm and 6.55pm.
The QPS, Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) and the Queensland Fire Department (QFD) can confirm that no Triple Zero calls for service were lost during this period.
Furthermore, the QPS did not identify any delays in answering calls for service during this time and community safety was not impacted.
The QPS understands that Telstra is investigating the root cause for the issue.
There are several contingencies and business continuity plans in place to mitigate the risk to calls for service in the event that a technical issue occurs.
Calls to Triple Zero are carried on any available mobile network, regardless of the caller’s designated mobile provider.
Callers must be in the coverage area of any one of the mobile providers in Australia to be able to make emergency calls.
You should call Triple Zero if a crime is happening now, when your life or property is in immediate danger or when the event is time critical.
If the crime is not happening now, is not life-threatening or there is no likelihood of the suspected offenders still being in the area – report online or call 131 444.
