Five people have been arrested after allegedly assaulting a ride share driver and stealing his car in the northern suburbs late night.
Just before 11pm on Saturday 23 October police were called to a Parafield Gardens address in relation to a disturbance.
Police arrived and spoke to a ride share driver who had been assaulted by a group of people and then they stole his Kia Sportage.
One suspect remained at the scene and the 14-year-old boy from Parafield Gardens was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
The victim was taken by ambulance to the Lyell McEwin Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.
Members of the public phoned police advising of a silver Kia being driven erratically, at high speed and on the wrong side of the road at Ingle Farm and Klemzig.
About 12.30am on Sunday 24 October, a resident on Clarence Avenue reported that a silver Kia collided with a parked car and the occupants had fled the area on foot.
PolAir tracked the suspects and with the assistance of patrols Dog Operations Unit, four suspects were arrested a short distance away. All four people were charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle and aggravated assault.
A 19-year-old man from Seaton and a 15-year-old girl from Golden Grover were charged. An 18-year-old man from Henley Beach was further charged with driving without due care and breaching his learners permit conditions. A 15-year-old girl was further charged with assault police.
The 14-year-old boy was refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Youth court on Monday 25 October. The 18-year-old man was refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday 25 October. The two girls and the 19-year–old were granted police bail to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court in November.
