Update: Cornell coronavirus FAQ

Cornell President Martha E. Pollack announced March 13 that Cornell will suspend all classes on the Ithaca campus for three weeks, effective 5 p.m. Virtual instruction will begin April 6. All undergraduate students and most professional students are strongly encouraged to return as soon as feasible to their permanent home residences.

The administration is taking this step as a proactive measure to minimize the risk of coronavirus spread in the community.

Housing

What is the plan for students to move out?

Plans for moving out are underway. On-campus residents will be provided details this weekend. We understand students may want to move before specific move-out details are final. Connect with student residential staff. We’ll work with students that may need special accommodations.

What if a student can’t move their belongings now? Is there free storage?

For students in Cornell-owned housing, we have secured a storage solution for belongings in Ithaca at no additional cost. Details will be forthcoming.
