Today, Victorians have been told that they must pay at least $380 million for a Commonwealth Games that will never happen.
Victorians will have to pay for Labor’s incompetence and gross financial mismanagement at a time when they are experiencing a cost-of-living crisis.
Victorians will be forced to wear the humiliation and damage to our international reputation because of this debacle. The Andrews Government’s supposed costings for the Games that will never happen are woefully inadequate. They are just cynical spin and simply can’t be taken seriously.
The Premier says the matter has been closed off, but it is simply being covered up. Victorians can be assured that the total cost of this debacle will be significantly higher than $380 million.
No wonder Victoria is broke.
The Liberals and Nationals with the support of the minor parties will pursue the truth for all Victorians in the upcoming inquiry into the Games debacle.
Premier Daniel Andrews and Deputy Premier Jacinta Allan must appear before the inquiry and explain to all Victorians their role in this debacle and what it will actually cost.
And as the Minister for the non-delivery of the Commonwealth Games, Ms Allan must resign. If she won’t resign, then Mr Andrews must sack her.
It’s time for the Andrews Government to tell the truth. Victorians deserve nothing less.
