WA to host 2023 and 2026 All Schools Athletics Championships

  • Two national competitions for school-aged athletes secured for Perth
  • More than 1,000 of Australia’s top school-aged athletes to compete in December
  • Supported by the Western Australian Government, through Tourism WA, in partnership with Athletics Australia

State pride and school honour will be on the line in December when the nation’s top school-aged sports stars head to Western Australia to compete in top-level athletic competition.

The WA Athletics Stadium will host the Australian All Schools Championship (All Schools) and National Schools Challenge from 8-11 December 2023 and again in 2026, supported by the WA Government through Tourism WA.

The All Schoolscompetition is an annual three-day festival of athletic events for school-aged students, with individual performances combined to see one Australian State or Territory named the best in Australia.

The 2023 and 2026 events are estimated to each attract more than 3,000 out-of-state visitors, generating direct expenditure of more than $3 million each year for the WA economy.

The Australian All Schools Athletics Championships includes more than 200 events for students in age categories of under 16, under 17 and under 18, as well as three para events including under 15, under 17 and under 20.

The best athletes then progress to the National Schools Challenge, a one-day event held after All Schools, where the most successful team will be hailed as the best athletic school in Australia.
