Wendouree West Recreation Reserve pump track unveiled

A $195,000 pump track suitable for users of all abilities has been unveiled at the Wendouree West Recreation Reserve.

The track can be used for bikes, scooters and skateboards and was funded by the Victorian Government and constructed by the City of Ballarat.

City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Daniel Moloney said a track that suited all ages and skill levels was a fantastic outcome for the Wendouree community.

”The Wendouree West Recreation Reserve upgrade will improve community facilities for user groups and the community, will lead to increased reserve use and improve precinct community safety,” Cr Moloney said.

State Member for Wendouree Juliana Addison said the new pump track is a fantastic addition to the Wendouree West Recreation Reserve.

“It will provide hours of free fun for the local community and further enhance the Reserve as an important hub for Wendouree,” Ms Addison said.

The Strengthening Wendouree Community Recreation Precinct is funded by the Victorian Government through a $7 million Local Sports Grant, which was a 2018 election commitment, with the City of Ballarat also providing funding, including $50,000 for the pump track’s skating elements.

The transformative project will deliver a community hub and sports pavilion, soccer pitch floodlighting, Men’s Shed, Recranked Youth Shed, a five-a-side street soccer zone and youth shelter.

Completed components are soccer pitch and power upgrades.

Construction of the final stages of the project is expected to begin in early 2022 and be completed by the end of that year.
