The highly anticipated and newly expanded Western Australia Gourmet Escape presented by Westpac launches this evening, with two exciting satellite events in the Swan Valley.
Hardcore carnivore Jess Pryle will kicks things off with her ‘Tex Mex Takeover’, while the godfather of modern cooking, Marco Pierre White, will provide food for thought at sold-out event, ‘Marco Pierre White on the Past, Present and Future of Food’.
The two culinary heavyweights will then come together tomorrow for the ‘Feast Fire Pit’ at Gourmet Feast in the Valley, with WA food ambassadors Don Hancey and Sophie Budd joining them as consultant chefs to ensure local, seasonal produce is showcased throughout the demonstrations.
An impressive line-up of producers and talent will feature at the two-day festival, Feast in the Valley, before events move to Perth during the week and conclude in the Margaret River region on the weekend of November 15-17.
All the popular events are returning to the Margaret River program, including crowd favourites the Gourmet Beach BBQ, Gourmet Village and Sunset Beats and Bites, as well as a host of exciting new offerings that will highlight the beauty and diversity of the region.
The World Gourmet Symposium, the new business networking stream of Western Australia Gourmet Escape, is being held at Mandoon Estate on November 14.
As part of the Symposium, TAFE and high school hospitality students and teachers have been invited to join some of the world’s top chefs and restaurant industry leaders for a free ‘Inspired Series’ event.
This event is designed to provide up to 100 students and teachers with access to food industry leaders, including Marco Pierre White, Josh Niland and Kylie Javier Ashton, to inspire them to thrive in the hospitality industry.
Native ingredient expert Dale Tilbrook and Fervor executive chef Paul Iskov have consulted with guest chefs at the World Gourmet Symposium to ensure the lunch is a true representation of our State.
As part of the Margaret River program, South West TAFE is working with local restaurants to allow commercial cookery students to work alongside international chefs at satellite events.
