- Perth to host Global Citizen NOW between 18 October and 20 October
- Summit to bring together government, business, philanthropy, First Nations communities, and broader community with focus on the energy transition
- Event to reaffirm Western Australia’s status as the State of Energy
Western Australia’s status as the State of Energy and its future as a renewable energy powerhouse will be on display when Perth hosts Global Citizen NOW later this year.
The major international summit – to be hosted by international advocacy nonprofit Global Citizen between 18 October and 20 October – is part of a broader campaign of events taking place worldwide in the lead up to COP31, where Australia will serve as President of Negotiations, in November.
Global Citizen NOW brings together leaders from government, business, philanthropy, First Nations communities, and the broader community with a focus on the energy transition.
In addition to the summit, Global Citizen NOW will deliver a series of public-facing engagement opportunities designed to connect Western Australians with the ideas, people, and solutions shaping the future of energy, climate action, and economic resilience.
Established in Australia in 2008, Global Citizen is the world’s largest movement to end extreme poverty.
Since 2022, Global Citizen NOW has convened leaders in government, policy, advocacy, business, philanthropy, and culture to address the world’s biggest issues including education, food security, energy, and global health.

As stated by Premier Roger Cook:
“There’s always been an energy about our State.
“This energy has inspired a long history of economic security, stability, and reliability on the world stage, and made us an ideal choice for long-term partnerships and investment.
“Global Citizen NOW provides the perfect platform for Western Australia to play a central role in critical conversations that span industrial decarbonisation, diversification, and innovation, showcasing WA’s status as the State of Energy.”
As stated by Tourism Minister Reece Whitby:
“Events like Global Citizen NOW are a great opportunity for WA – they bring people here from around the world, support local businesses and jobs, and give us a chance to show off what makes our State great.
“Business events don’t just fill our hotel rooms; they bring together people, ideas, and investment, which is why we’ve backed Business Events Perth with an extra $10 million to help attract more major events that deliver economic benefits for Western Australia.”
