Where is Liberals’ Hydrogen generation plan?

Tasmanian Labor
  • Liberals all talk and no action on Hydrogen
  • Hodgman and Barnett must release “plan” today
  • Hundreds of potential jobs to go begging
  • In Question Time today, Will Hodgman refused to provide any detail or table its very overdue and very secret Hydrogen plan.

The Queensland Government announced its strategy in May 2019.

The Western Australian Government released theirs in July.

South Australia released an Action Plan last year.

The Victorians have a Hydrogen Investment Program.

After months and months of pressure from Labor and industry, particularly the Northern Tasmanian Development Corporation, last week Guy Barnett boasted proudly that he had a secret plan.

However the Premier refused to table it today.

Shadow Energy Minister David O’Byrne said it was clear that the Government was playing catch up and in truth, had no plan.

“Will Hodgman and Guy Barnett are missing out on the opportunity to create 500 new jobs,” Mr O’Byrne said.

“If they can’t produce a plan or a strategy, the only conclusion is that one doesn’t exist.

“Tasmanians deserve a Government that stands up for jobs.”

    David O’Byrne MP

    Shadow Minister for Energy
