Work on a trio of sporting infrastructure upgrades to enhance the player and spectator experience is now complete – and there’s more to come.
An electronic scoreboard has been installed at the Grange Reserve in Hoppers Crossing, making it easier for players and spectators to keep track of the score and time remaining.
This $75,000 project was funded through the remaining Sport and Recreation Victoria grant funds Wyndham City received to install four lighting poles at the Grange Reserve pitch 1 in 2021.
Also at Grange Reserve, new player shelters have been installed and work is underway to modify the fence and lay synthetic pads to accommodate the new shelters.
In Truganina, three new park bench seats have been installed along one length of Arndell Park Reserve, giving spectators a comfortable vantage point when watching their team play.
Meanwhile, synthetic matting has been laid at the Victoria University Sporting Complex in Werribee, which will reduce the risk of injury for athletes using the athletics track and long jump pit.
Wyndham City Active City portfolio holder Cr Peter Maynard said these projects formed part of a series of sporting infrastructure upgrades being completed across 2022/23 as part of Wyndham City’s Sports Facility Strategy Implementation.
“While these upgrades may appear minor, they will significantly improve the overall experience for our host sporting clubs, spectators and visiting teams,” Cr Maynard said.
“Other projects on track for completion over the coming months include the installation of lighting at Price Reserve in Werribee South, barrier netting at Saltwater Reserve in Point Cook and a pitch fence at Williams Landing Reserve.”
