We recognise that 2020 has been a turbulent year for many businesses, but Tasmania’s trade and export community remains committed to growing their export markets.

Businesses have shown remarkable resilience, capacity to innovate, and flexibility to adjust to an ever-changing global landscape.

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is committed to facilitating this transformation with assistance to trading businesses through the Accelerating Trade Grant Program.

Exports are vital to the strength and growth of our local economy, and we are currently seeing more than $5 billion of goods and services sent around the world each year, an increase of more 14 per cent year-on-year over the last three years.

Through the quality products, services and dedication of businesses like Forager Food Co and Novaris, we are confident we will meet or even surpass our long-term trade strategy target of growing Tasmania’s trade to $15 billion by the year 2050.

I congratulate all Tasmanian exporters who have managed their businesses through the COVID-19 crisis, these are industry leaders exploring new opportunities, finding new markets and taking the Tasmanian name and reputation for quality to the world.
