Forager Food Co, based near Deloraine, has been announced as the Tasmanian Resilience Export Award winner in recognition of its ability to adapt to the challenges of 2020, while lightening protection leader, Novaris, has been awarded the Tasmanian Innovation Export Award.
Eleven Tasmanian businesses submitted stories of courage, determination and innovation for the 2020 Tasmanian Resilience and Innovation Export Awards.
Forager Food Co specialises in freeze drying a broad range of food products using local Tasmanian produce, with the long shelf life and high nutritional benefits of the products fueling export growth.
Based in Kingston, Novaris designs and produces direct-strike lightning protection, surge protection, and earthing solutions and is found in major projects across the globe with an an international reputation for quality and reliability.
Its engineers have pioneered new and innovative methods of lightning protection, and provide consultancy on how to best protect infrastructure from lightning strikes across all market sectors.
We recognise that 2020 has been a turbulent year for many businesses, but Tasmania’s trade and export community remains committed to growing their export markets.
Businesses have shown remarkable resilience, capacity to innovate, and flexibility to adjust to an ever-changing global landscape.
The Tasmanian Liberal Government is committed to facilitating this transformation with assistance to trading businesses through the Accelerating Trade Grant Program.
Exports are vital to the strength and growth of our local economy, and we are currently seeing more than $5 billion of goods and services sent around the world each year, an increase of more 14 per cent year-on-year over the last three years.
Through the quality products, services and dedication of businesses like Forager Food Co and Novaris, we are confident we will meet or even surpass our long-term trade strategy target of growing Tasmania’s trade to $15 billion by the year 2050.
