4,900 new jobs in Queensland

More than 192,000 Queenslanders have now found work since the Palaszczuk Government was elected, according to ABS Labour Force Data released today.

Deputy Premier and Treasurer Jackie Trad said the data showed 4,900 new jobs were created in Queensland in March.

“We are completely focused on creating new jobs and growing new industries to make sure Queensland’s economy is fit for the future,” Ms Trad said

“By focusing on job creation, we saw 4,900 new jobs created in Queensland last month. Importantly, all of those new jobs were full-time places.

“That’s 4,900 more Queenslanders with a place in our economy.

“Our trend unemployment rate also fell to 5.9%, which is significantly lower than the one we inherited from the LNP (6.6% off a 6.7% high).

“Now, what we really need to keep growing jobs and to create a fairer economy is to have a Bill Shorten Labor Government that will address low wages growth and give Queensland a better deal on health, infrastructure and education.

“We’ve created 192,000 jobs already, imagine what we could do with a Government that gave Queensland its fair share.”

Minister for Employment and Small Business Shannon Fentiman welcomed the additional 4,900 jobs created last month.

“This is great news for Queensland and is because of our investment in job creating initiatives like Back to Work and Skilling Queenslanders for Work,” Ms Fentiman said.

“We are investing in the future of jobs for Queensland with free tafe and supporting our small businesses to start, grow and be able to employ more Queenslanders.”
