Adelaide hub plays ball from tomorrow

Adelaide will host a national baseball hub from tomorrow, bringing together elite teams to play a series at West Beach.

The State Government of South Australia is the presenting partner of the Adelaide hub, which is enabling the elite competition to continue in a COVID-safe way.

All Adelaide hub games will be broadcast on FOX SPORTS and streamed on Kayo Sports in Australia.

SATC Events South Australia executive director Hitaf Rasheed said it was an important step forward for SA to host national sporting events.

“We’re excited to host some of Australia’s best baseball talent, and to showcase what we can deliver,” said Ms Rasheed.

The Perth Heat, Adelaide Giants and Brisbane Bandits will remain in the hub for its entire duration from January 14-20.

The Heat will play eight games across seven days at Dicolor Australia Stadium ahead of being able to return home to Perth for the first time since December 30.

Perth will replace the Cavalry, who had been slated to play four games against the Giants and Bandits from January 18-20.

Adelaide and Brisbane will also play two additional games in the hub.

The Giants and Bandits will clash in a doubleheader on Sunday to make up for games lost in Brisbane’s hub last week.

Sunday became an option after the Australian Women’s Baseball Showcase presented by VALO was postponed due to players from Greater Brisbane and most of New South Wales being unable to enter South Australia for the one-day doubleheader without quarantining for 14 days.

Adelaide and Brisbane will play 10 games in seven days at Dicolor Australia Stadium.

The Giants and Bandits will get the action underway on Thursday from 12.30pm local time. Adelaide will face Perth in the evening game.

Games will be shown into the US on a number Regional Sports Networks including AT&T SportsNet, ROOT SPORTS, Cox Sports Television, NBC Regional Sports Network and For the Fans (previously Eleven Sports).
