Territorians are invited to apply for a grant to research and share NT history.
Territory residents, societies and community organisationscan apply for up to $7,000, with a total funding pool of $59,000.
The Northern Territory History Grants supportand encourage research into Northern Territory history.
Previously funded projects include:
- Heritage of the Air in the Northern Territory, a published journal article and seminar aboutthe Northern Territorys contribution to the history of Aviation in Australia.
- Australian Indigenous oral histories, stories,song-lines, a website to feature ashort series of traditional Indigenous ceremonial songs and song-line historystories in new ways for a mainstream audience.
- Japaljarris Journey, a printed book telling the history of CentralAustralian through the words of Walpiri man Japaljarri
- COTAs 50 years in the Northern Territory, a booklet sharing the history of the Councilon the Ageing NT.
The Territory has a rich and vibrant history andculture and anyone embarking on a Northern Territory history project within thenext 12 months is encouraged to apply for a 2019-20 History Grant.
Preference will be given to applicationscovering topics which have not been researched before or if the topic has beenresearched before, the application must propose a new approach.
The scope of grants includes:
- Funding to assist with printing expenses, development of audio andvisual material, and web expenses
- Travel and accommodation
- Stationary and consumables
- Incidental research fees
- Copying charges
